The structure of an experimental system of natural language interfaces is shown in the figure below. This system receives voice questions in Belarusian or Russian, processes them into a text. On its basis text, a message is generated. Then it is synthesized into a speech.
Figure 1. Functional layout of QA dialogue system for Belarusian and Russian
The experimental model of the system was developed for the topic ‘geometry’.
Examples of the user questions and text answers that were generated:
- In Belarusian
Question: What are synonyms of the notion square?
Answer: Synonyms of the notion square are: equilateral rectangle, right-angled rhomb.
- In Russian
Question: What are synonyms of the notion square?
Answer: Synonyms of the notion square are: equilateral rectangle,
right-angled rhomb.
With the help of developed electronic grammar dictionary for Belarusian and Russian in the text-to-speech synthesizer the process machine searches for synonyms and word forms for every word in the question text. A text answer is generated on the basis of the expanded text inquiry and word combinations of the geometrical domain (figures Б.2, Б.3). Thus, the developed bilingual dialogue system creates an opportunity for the user not only to enter the question and read the answer from the screen but also makes oral questions and gets the answers in the proper language.
