Coordination of Research Activities

The activities on the coordination of Research and Development in our organization and in our country, which are carried out by our laboratory in the scientific, technological and innovation policy areas and adopted by our organization, are highlighted below.

From 2006 to 2007 our laboratory was the coordinator of the research work (RW) on “The development of Multi-Voice and Multi-Language Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Speech-to-Text (STT) Conversion System (Languages: Belarusian, Polish, Russian)” within the framework of the international project INTAS Ref. Nr 04-77-7404. The research resulted in the creation of multilingual speech resources (for Belarusian, Polish and Russian) and a multivoice acoustic database. As scientific and practical results, multilingual TTS synthesis methods and algorithms, voice cloning technology, speech recognition methods and algorithms were developed, and a number of prototypes were created.

From 2011 to 2012 the laboratory was the coordinator of the RW on “Yakut TTS Synthesizer and phonetic database for the vocational rehabilitation of visually impaired people.” Under the agreement № 214/61 with North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk, for the first time in the world, the Yakut computer-based TTS system providing synthesis with male or female voice was created.

From 2011 to 2012 the lab research workers Yu.Hetsevich S.Hetsevich with the participation of Ya.Yakubovich (Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain) have developed a Belarusian module for the NooJ  linguistic software (http://www.nooj4nlp.net/pages/belarusian.html). On 5 June 2013 the lab researchers Yu.Hetsevich and A.Skopinava joined the International Assosiation of NooJ Users.

During the period from 2006 to 2010 the lab Principal Researcher, DSc in Engineering B.M.Lobanov was the research organizer and coordinator as a Programme committee member and a reviewer of the following international conferences:

  • International conference DIALOGUE “Computer Linguistics and Intelligence Technology”;
